Josef Schott was a designer at the factory for many years.Born in 1915 in Marienbad (now the Czech Republic), Schott studied at art schools in Salzburg and Berlin. This is a rarity. Smalandshyttan glass-works was one of the less famous firms in the province of Smaland, the glass making center of Sweden. Reference books on the firm are non-existent, so we don't know too much about it. Its main designer, around 1960, when these were made, was Josef Schott, and the company thought well enough of him to put his name on a label on his designs. The company's Large floor lamp designed by Josef Schott for Swedish glass makers Smålandshyttan. Retro fitted to include colour changing led in the base.
